Dr. Atul Gupta is an accomplished interventional radiologist who specializes in minimally invasive procedures. His clinical expertise in procedures, especially with balloon kyphoplasty, percutaneous oncology treatments, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), and varicose vein ablation treatments, has earned Dr. Gupta the reputation as a well-respected IR physician in the Rochester region. He has received the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology 2017 Distinguished Reviewer Award. He is member of the Board of the New York State Radiological Society. He has several publications to his name in various journals. He enjoys teaching of residents.
He has spent nearly his entire life in the Upstate New York area. He completed an electrical engineering degree from the University of Rochester before completing medical school at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, Upstate Medical. He trained as a surgeon prior to his diagnostic radiology residency at SUNY Buffalo Medical School. He then left the area for a year to complete his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at The Washington Hospital Center. He was then the IR section chief at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo prior to joining Rochester Radiology. He is associate chairman of radiology at Rochester General Hospital and chairman of radiology at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. His leadership has made available several new cutting edge procedures to his patients, improved image quality and patient safety.
Dr. Gupta is an avid triathlete, training year-round in endurance running, swimming, and biking, and competing in multiple events every year all over the country. He also loves traveling and spending time with family.
